What we owe those we lead

March 14, 2010

I am at a hotel in Austin, TX where Life Action is having its annual Vision Gathering. At breakfast this morning I was talking to my server and she mentioned how her managers often expected more from the staff than the managers were willing to give – that they held the staff to higher standards than they were willing to meet.

I wonder how often I am guilty of asking more of my people than I am willing to give to them.

As leaders in God’s Kingdom, we are to be servants. We are to lay down our lives for Christ and others. We are to esteem others as greater than ourselves. I seem to often forget that and to expect others to serve me.

I pray that as leaders that we are reminded of our duty to those that we lead and serve.
