Good morning – I hope you are looking forward to a great week serving the Lord with passion and energy!
Right now I am reading an interesting book by Tony Schwartz titled The Way We’re Working Isn’t Working. The book is a secular book written for a secular audience, but you can see some good principles in the book – such as the Sabbath principle.
In his book he shares a few questions I would like to share with you and ask that you contemplate these questions this week and your answers to them.
“To what extent do you eat right, work out regularly, and get enough sleep?
Are you eager and excited to get to work in the morning?
Do you focus your attention on your most important priorities and are you as productive as you could be?
Are you motivated by a clear sense of purpose at work – something beyond your self-interest?
Do you positively energize and inspire those you lead and manage?”
Then he goes on to ask these questions in regards to the organization:
“Do you think your people perform better when they are healthier and happier?
Does your organization regularly invest in people’s health and happiness?”
He remarks that when we answer both sets of questions, the picture that emerges is rarely pretty. And he then states, “We spend too little time thinking strategically and long term, too little time taking care of ourselves, and too little time simply enjoying our lives.”
His concluding question is this – “Is the life you’re leading worth the price you’re paying to lead it?”
Some tough questions – at least they were for me.

This looks like it is going to be a good book and I hope to share some more about it as I make my way through it.
Hope you have a blessed week making a difference in this world as you serve Jesus!
