Good Monday morning to you! Hope you had a great weekend – we did as we celebrated my daughter’s, Keely, birthday. She is quite a young lady – click here to read her blog.
One of the things I enjoy about working at Ambassador Enterprises is that you are constantly being pushed to learn and to grow – both personally and professionally. This past week at our weekly learning time we talked about several things. One topic was selfdom – which is when immature persons are prisoners of their own attitudes and behaviors. Interesting
Another topic was anger. Tell me, do you ever get angry? Why? We talked about that a bit. We talked about how anger is really a secondary emotion that usually is driven by one of four things:
1. Fear – which is a future orientation
2. Disappointment – this is a past orientation
3. Frustration – this is a preset orientation
4. Hurt – personal injury
We went on to discuss God’s solutions to these four causes of anger:
1. God’s solution for fear is Faith
2. God’s solution for disappointment is Forgiveness
3. God’s solution for frustration is Contentment
4. God’s solution for hurt is Healing
We then went on to talk about what is it that controls our responses? One statement that was made is that we may not have control over the events in our lives, but we do have control over how we respond to those events. It is actually quite simple (but not easy), but we choose how we respond. It is as simple as that – but again, not easy.
Then came the quote that really struck home with me and stung me as well:
“It is my beliefs, not my circumstances, that control my responses.”
Is it your beliefs or your circumstances that are controlling your responses to the events in your life? Do you need to change in this area?
Blessings on your week!
