I thoroughly enjoyed Marcus Buckingham and Ashley Goodall‘s book, Nine Lies About Work. Goodall has continued to produce some good videos about work that will make you think! In the video (3:30) below, he talks about organizational network analysis – very interesting in my opinion.
“An org. chart bears very little resemblance to how work actually gets done in an organization. A series of tidy names in tidy boxes fails to illustrate the rich and dynamic connections between a group of people collaborating. At Cisco, we see the messiness and richness of people working together as something worth engaging with and understanding. And so, we’ve started to depict work very differently. Through organizational network analysis, we can uncover patterns of collaboration across an organization and then use that information to make decisions.”Ashley Goodall on YouTube | https://youtu.be/cfKh_2xHHZI
